The
Fingees - Live Reggae Music
Saturday
- 6-9 PM
Bronx River
Art Center (BRAC) is pleased to present live Reggae music to warm the
cold midwinter night of Saturday, February 15th. This performance will
take place from 6-9 PM and a suggested contribution of $5.00 will be collected
at the door.
The Fingees,
an established Bronx-based group, will perform catchy tunes of the
rocking roots reggae. Their dance-happy sounds will fill the 3000 square
foot open space of BRACS 4th floor studios and will make you move with
the groove. Band members, Peter and Garner Fingal's music is reminiscent
of Steel Pulse, Aswad, and Bob Marley and the Wailers. The Fingal brothers
have performed at such noted venues as the world famous Apollo Theatre
and SOB's. For their concert at BRAC they will perform songs from their
new CD "What Kind of Life is This?"- a cool, rock steady rhythm
of crisp rim shots and a soaring vocal cry. Tracks like "No Turning
Back", "Rasta Man" and the title track "What Kind
of Life?" include a wicked bass and drum scorching giving scope to
aching harmonies. The Fingees will prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that
great reggae is being made right here in the Bronx.
This music
event coincides with the current exhibit in our gallery Reflections
in Clay, a presentation of contemporary ceramics and sculpture
curated by master ceramicist Reuben King. Come join us to warm this winter
night with hot Reggae sounds. Bring your family, friends and dancing shoes
and plan to visit our gallery during the pre concert hours of noon to
6:00 PM.
This
event is made possible with public funds from the New York State Council
on the Arts, a state agency. Additional support is provided by the New
York City Department of Youth and Community Development, Bronx Council

Serrano and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
for their unwavering support of our efforts to enhance the cultural environment
of Bronx citizens and restore our beautiful natural resource (and name
sake)- The Bronx River.
