THE
2006 STUDENT/FACULTY SPRING EXHIBITION AND BENEFIT SALE
ORIGINAL ART WORKS FOR SALE THROUGH JULY 15, 2006
OPENING PARTY ON JUNE 30TH WITH A
PERFORMANCE BY “UNIVERSES” IN DREW GARDENS
June,
2006, Bronx, NY.… The Bronx River Art Center (BRAC), located in
the heart of the Bronx at 1087 East Tremont Avenue (near Boston Rd @West
Farms Square) presents its 2006 Spring Student/Faculty Exhibition and
Benefit Sale, opening with a reception on June 30th, from 4pm-7pm.
BRAC
invites the Bronx community to come celebrate the accomplishments of our
talented youth and support BRAC’s mission to provide art and environmental
education to our community. The exhibition will feature paintings, drawings,
prints, ceramics, photography, graphic design and films produced by youth
in our FREE after-school art classes. Our staff of professional artists
will also contribute works of art to the exhibition. The party will be
catered by the Culinary Training Institute, an organization that trains
young adults, 18-22, in the culinary arts. The event will feature presentations
of awards and certificates, screenings of films produced in our Stop Animation
and Digital Filmmaking classes and a benefit sale of selected original
works of art. Student designed and printed tee-shirts, scented sachets
and other BRAC products will also be available for sale. Proceeds will
go to support our after-school programming for youth ages 9-21.
The
evening concludes with a performance by Universes; an ensemble of multi-disciplined
writers and performers with a distinctive fusion of poetry, theater, jazz,
hip-hop, politics, down-home blues and Spanish boleros. Universes will
perform from 6pm-7pm in Drew Gardens (across the street from BRAC), a
lush cluster of community gardens nestled along the banks of the Bronx
River. This
performance marks the last installment of our 3rd Annual “June Jubilee”
Festival of Performing Arts.
