Dubinsky’s
TRANSIT, a multiple-channel video installation, interweaves the
artist’s own travels and life changes with her exploration
of how people get from one place to another throughout the world.
TRANSIT will move from the Bronx River Art Center’s gallery
into the surrounding neighborhood through a series of improvised
dance performances.
Eleanor
Dubinsky is a New York-based visual artist, multidisciplinary
choreographer and musician whose work explores the boundaries
and intersections of nation, person and place. She is the recipient
of a 2005 Manhattan Community Arts Fund grant, a 2003 Fractured
Atlas Creative Development Grant and has been a visiting artist
at The Center of Creative Arts (COCA) in St. Louis, MO and at
CESTA Arts Center in Tabor, the Czech Republic. Dubinsky has collaborated
with artists such as Ann Carlson, Felix Ruckert, Mary Ellen Strom,
Jennifer Monson and Paul Benney, and has performed in venues such
as Movement Research at the Judson Church, Draftwork (presented
by Danspace Project), Hothouse (presented by PS 122), the Movement
Research Festival and Jacob's Pillow.
