Why I Teach: “
I teach because I want to be an asset to my community. Growing up in the public school system, there were very few times I felt teachers actually connected with the student body and had the student's best interest at heart. I've always wanted to be part of the change, and shift the perspective of how kids look at our education system. Teaching at Bronx River Art Center, in my hometown, has yielded me tremendous growth and is super fulfilling in many ways. I've learned the importance of staying organized, adapting and experimenting with different teaching styles, and most importantly, communication. Through teaching I've also had to perfect my craft. I want to continue learning and sharing what I know with others, primarily within my community. I believe in the roots.
