The Bronx
River Art Center kicks off the spring with two solo exhibitions by
New York artists, Debra Priestly and Eleanor Dubinsky. Priestly’s
mixed media works offer intimate stories about her personal and collective
African American history through a metaphorical use of photographic
imagery that reconciles past and current events. Dubinsky’s
TRANSIT, a multiple-channel video installation, interweaves the artist’s
own travels and life changes with her exploration of how people get
from one place to another throughout the world. TRANSIT will move
from the Bronx River Art Center’s gallery into the surrounding
neighborhood through a series of improvised dance performances.
