This winter the Bronx River Art Center (BRAC) is offering an extension of our adults and parent-child team Environmental Studies and Urban Planning Through the Arts (ESUP). The ESUP program for adults and parent-child teams is an on-going project developed to make Bronx community residents and their children invest an interest in our River, a magnificent treasure.

The Bronx River is 23 miles long and begins from Westchester and descends into the Bronx surrounded by industrial plants, rundown buildings and over-grown plants. Each class will explore the River through creative work, focusing and capturing the hidden beauty that flows through our own backyard. The ESUP program's goal is simple - to create a drive in our participants to become involved in helping restore the Bronx River and to teach others about their passion and respect from what they have learned at BRAC and other community organizations.

Participants will learn about the Bronx's rivers history, ecology and urban effect in surrounding communities. These lectures will include field trips to Drew Gardens, Bronx Waterfall and other sites to enrich family perceptions of our hidden beauty, the Bronx River.
