Angel Chevrestt

BRAC Teaching Artist, Photography, 1999 - 2001

Angel Chevrestt was born in Manhattan, NY and raised in the Bronx, NY. He obtained his BA in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Hunter College in 1996. Angel was a four-time BRIO awardee (1995, 1997, 2000, 2004) and a 2002 NYFA Arts fellowship recipient in the category of photography. He has been working as a photojournalist based in NYC since 2001.

Why I Teach: “I teach because, in its purest sense, the artistic process is an exploration of ourselves in the environment around us, and the main goal of this process is to find a voice that will best express those feelings and ideas that make us who we are. Assisting someone to embark on this journey of self-exploration has been one of my most satisfying endeavors.”
