Diane Davis

BRAC Teaching Artist, Watercolor Painting, Spring 2017

Diane Davis' ongoing visual exploration of the physics of the urban environment and her love for dance inform her paintings. A painting from the Dance series, Sunrise Dancers, and an earlier work from her Childhood series, Log Cabin, are in the permanent collection of The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, NY, and her work is also included in the Montclair Museum, NJ. She has exhibited nationally, including Hampton Museum, VA and the MoCada Museum, Brooklyn, NY. Her exhibitions include: Scope, New York City, Knox Gallery, the Renaissance Fine Art Gallery, The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts, NY, Longwood Art Gallery, Bronx, NY and The 2008 National Black Fine Arts Show, NY.

Why I Teach:

I am at my best when I'm teaching. I am giving something to someone they didn't know they could have. Art is the best thing I could possibly give; that's why I teach.
